Schedules by group size
How it works
- Pairs stay fixed for the whole event. Each pair plays every other pair once.
- The app builds the full schedule up front. Four pairs give three rounds, six pairs give five rounds, and so on.
- Matches are usually played to 16 points, but you can set the target at the start. A win is worth three table points, a draw one and a loss none.
- If the number of pairs is odd, one pair has a bye each round. The bye rotates, so nobody waits twice in a row.
- The table is ranked on table points, then point difference, then points scored. The table points come from wins and draws, not from the points scored on court.
- Courts fill in order, so with four pairs on two courts two matches run at once. Add courts to shorten the event.
Frequently asked questions
How many pairs do you need for a round robin?
Four pairs is the minimum and 24 is the maximum. Six to 12 pairs works well for a one-day event.
How does scoring work?
Most events play to 16 points. A win is three table points, a draw one and a loss none. Point difference breaks ties.
What if we have an odd number of pairs?
One pair has a bye each round. The bye rotates, so every pair gets the same amount of rest.
How long does it take?
A round takes 10 to 15 minutes. A six-pair round robin is five rounds, so about 90 minutes on two courts.
